Stunning Leheriya Bagh Phulkari from Punjab, India dating to early 1900s.

Phulkari means "flower work" and these stunning pieces of textile art include intricate hand embroidery in silk floss on handspun, handwoven cotton fabric. Originally used as shawls for wedding celebrations, these were always intended for domestic use, and feature geometric patterns in vibrant colored silk floss.
They were usually created by the bride and her female relatives (mother, aunts, grandmother) over several years, to be used at the wedding and subsequently at other family ceremonies.

In excellent condition for age.
