Gourd shaped vessel (Ensumbi) made by the Nyoro people, Uganda.
Delicate, gourd-shaped vessels like this are examples of the finely crafted pottery created by Nyoro artists from Western Uganda. They are typically crafted by Nyoro men. With its gourd shaped round body and tall thin neck, this type of vessel imitates the shape of calabash gourds and was used as bottle to carry beer or drinking water.
