Antique Bamileke Divination pot in excellent condition. This is handcrafted from indigenous hardwood, and is presumed to have been used by traditional medicine healers/diviners to store herbs.
Highly carved with ancestral figures, this has been made out of a single block of wood, possibly ebony.
This is 29" tall and 12" across.

The Bamileke ethnic group occupies the grassland region of south-west Cameroon. Their art works usually convey themes of leadership, royalty, and prestige.

There are signs of age and wear, nonetheless this magnificent pot is in excellent condition
